Its been 2 weeks since we've launched Covidstop.ca and I'm really humbled by all of the community support and thanks. We've sent out over 600 face shields and are aiming for at least 2400 more in the next few weeks.
We've updated the design from version 1.7 to 2.5 with a ton of improvements and usability and all around print-ability. Everyday, we see about 300 frames come in from the volunteers and it really goes to show the power of crowd-sourced volunteering.
At this point, we are running into some bottlenecks with the supply and cutting of PETG sheets. This is a common theme that we are seeing amongst many volunteer groups. We are hoping to mitigate some of this by adding more industrial partners and sponsors.

Our Team has been working around the clock for the past week. We've heard your feedback and inquiries. It's clear now that there is no shortage of Canadian Community support and we're happy to announce our new initiative to support canadian makers in getting face shields and other PPE to where it's needed most.
We've launched CovidStop.ca today!
We're putting our own dollars to support Canadian Makers in making faceshield for the medical community. We've compiled a design, instructions and the Shop3D.ca team will reach out to hospitals who can simply place orders for face masks and we'll collect them from volunteer printers at our expense.
The biggest hurdle for people looking to help was that there was no concise information on where we can find files and which institutions need it the most. We're taking it on to help solve this by leveraging our logistical expertise.
Join us to today to make some face shields for the community!
Shop3D.ca Mississauga and Vancouver Locations will be operating during the restriction period on a limited basis.
Shop3D.ca is a national supplier for Federal and Provincial Government research institutions and is deemed to be “essential business”.
Our online shop is open but our showrooms are closed. We have reduced our staff to essential only status to facilitate social distancing but we will be shipping supplies regularly. We are prioritizing all research institutions, government agencies and medical institutions as that is the primary purpose for staying open during this period.
You can rely on us for supply and support. Stay Safe!
Our Print farm and members of our team are being mobilized to help the community. Please see our focus and efforts being updated frequently here and let us know if you can help: Shop3D Initiatives to help Communities
As a response to the province moving towards a stricter social distancing and self isolation measures to prevent community transmission:
Starting March 23rd, both the Mississauga and Vancouver stores will be closed to the public. No pickups will be available, and all orders will be required to be shipped (free shipping over $200 is still available). Orders will still ship out as long as courier and postal operations are still active. Any delays in your order will be communicated.
For the safety of the Shop3D customers and staff, all staff will be on leave or with remote work capabilities except for the store managers which will be on hand to support government, healthcare and essential business accounts.
We will also turn our focus to helping our communities. For information about our community support initiatives or if you want to contribute, please visit our updated post here.
We apologize for any inconvenience and please stay safe at home.
