While the LC40 can cut and etch a variety of materials, some materials (such as most metals) cannot be marked and will give less than desireable results. Other materials may not have acceptible finish quality. For more information on prohibited materials, please see the Dremel LC40 Laser Cutter Operation/Safety Manual.

During operation, laser cutters generate exhaust that may be hazardous to health. Always operate laser cutters with proper exhaust ventilation and/or filtration, and always operate in a well-ventilated area. Consult with federal, state and/or local authorities and applicable homeowner or condominium associations to ensure compliance of ventilation and exhaust systems. Installer of exhaust management system is responsible for complying with all codes, regulations and laws.
There are five options for managing exhaust generated during the laser fabrication process. Consult Exhaust Management Systems table within 'Downloads' drop down to determine appropriate exhaust management method.
