FAQ

Answers to the most commonly asked questions

We would like to go with a different face shield design, is that possible?

Please contact contact@covidstop.ca to request different 3D printed face shield designs.

We require another 3D printed item, can we get that?

Please contact contact@covidstop.ca and we will work to assist you.

We are not a hospital but require face shields. Can we order?

We are open to working with social workers, pharmacists and other front-line workers that have a need for a face shield. You can place an order and we will follow up with you, or you can contact us to discuss your needs.

My slicer is showing more than 1.5 hours, how can I cut down the time?

We have put together a Blog Post that details how to print the face shield for beginner and advanced users. If you have any questions you can ask us at contact@covidstop.ca

Can I use my own filament? Do I have to buy material?

Yes, you can use your own filament! Just Request a Shipping Label and we will cover the shipping costs. You do not have to buy material, but we do offer it for those who would like to be reimbursed for their efforts. Unfortunately we cannot reimburse you for filament that did not come from us, but we will be happy to accept the face shields you print as donations.

Why do you charge for material?

We want to make sure that our donated filament supplies are going toward the masks. Once masks have been received you will be fully refunded the cost of the material. If you already have filament you can skip purchasing and simply request a return label.

Proper PPE is coming from companies/china, why make 3D printed masks?

We fully believe that factory retooling and manufacturer production of PPE is solution to this problem. However, retooling and shipping takes time. We are filling the gap between now (when supplies are running low) and when a restock arrives. We anticipate that hospitals will be stocked first, so there may be secondary demand from other front-line workers such as pharmacists and nursing homes until they can be restocked as well.

To prevent wasted product and effort, we will closely monitor volunteer production vs. demand for the face shields.
