Matter3D Performance PLA - Carbon Fiber is made in Victoria, BC using premium NatureWorks 3D850 PLA resin and High-Modulus Carbon Fiber. Carbon Fiber PLA filament is ideal for anyone that desires an end-use component with very high modulus (stiffness), excellent surface quality (matte finish that masks layer lines), dimensional stability (very accurate retraction), light weight, and ease of printing. This material is designed to be printed at high speed with almost no loss in dimensional tolerance.
This material is particularly abrasive among 3D printing filaments. Users may find standard brass nozzles are chewed through very quickly compared to standard wear and tear. When worn through, the nozzle diameter will widen inconsistently and the printer will experience extrusion issues. Because of this, it's strongly recommended this material be printed through a hardened steel nozzle rather than a softer metal.
Any parts made with Matter3D’s Performance PLA can be heat treated (annealed) to improve the material's physical properties. To anneal a printed part, heat the part at 80 – 130 °C for up to 30 minutes by either submerging in hot water or by baking in an oven.
