Formlabs Model V3 Resin

Model Resin is a high-precision, high-accuracy resin with a smooth matte surface finish, perfect for general model making.

Overview

For model making and digital sculpting, Model Resin offers high detail, smooth surface finish, and a neutral base tone great for finalizing form and client approval of designs such as character models, figurines, and miniatures.

Typically also used as modelling resin for dental crown & bridge, orthotic, implant, clear aligner and diagnostic models.

Supports print resolutions: 100, and 50 microns, (Form 2, Form 3, and Form 3B); 140 microns (Form 2). Post Cure prints at 60°C for 30 minutes.

Should you switch from V2 to V3? Here's a breakdown:

The new model resin V3 is reformulated for a few major benefits. V3 is capable of printing much faster than V2, and releases easier from the build platform so you will experience less breakage or chipping when attempting to remove parts. Cure time is also quicker so the overall production speed is higher.

Accuracy remains the same, and you can expect the same level of precision from V2 and V3.

There may still be reasons to stick with V2 however. Visually, Model V3 is slightly more translucent than V2 and has a slightly different shade. You may prefer to use V2 if visual detail inspection is your primary use case. V3 is only available at 50 and 100 micron printing where V2 can go down to 25 microns. So if you absolutely need 25 microns for maximum detail, V2 should still be your first choice.
