NOTICE: Canada Post / CUPW Negotiation and Strike Details

November 14, 2024

Canada Post recently received a strike notice from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).

Starting November 15th at 12:01AM (EST), the CUPW will begin to strike and Canada Post operations will be halted or disrupted until further notice. While *some* operations will be taking place through Canada Post, we're expecting major delays in parcel-processing and shipping to destinations across Canada.

What does this mean for Shop3D?

Shipping will still take place here at Shop3D Mississauga and Vancouver. However, alternative carriers will be used for our regular shipping methods if Canada Post is not available. Our shipping options such as "Free Shipping Flat Rate" and "Flat-Rate Shipping Fee w/ Full Insurance" will have substituted carriers at the most economical level.  If you are in urgent need of 3D printing consumables or a 3D printer, we strongly encourage you to choose paid shipping options such as Fedex Ground. If you do not choose a paid shipping option, the delivery times will be at the level of the alternative carriers, due to the disruption.  Our sales team can assist if you’d like to choose other paid options or providing your own accounts.

What are my options?

FedEx Ground / 2Day / Standard Overnight / Priority Overnight will operate as normal, and will get your parcel to you in a timely manner.

For customers in the Greater Toronto Area, Rabbex Next-Day / Same-Day courier services will be available if you need items urgently and ordered before 11am.

For customers in the Greater Vancouver Area. Novex Courier / Novex Rush options will also be available if you need items urgently.

We strongly encourage customers to apply their own shipping accounts to orders as an alternative to Canada Post.

What happens if I select Free Shipping?

Canada Post was our primary selection for our free shipping option. As the strike is taking place, Expedited Parcel and XpressPost could face extreme delays. To avoid this issue, our Free Shipping and Flat-Rate Shipping methods may be using third party carriers until further notice.
While these methods will still be in place at Shop3D, we strongly suggest pre-paid options or using your own shipping account. Using the free shipping method has no guarantees for when your parcel will be delivered to you. We want to ensure your parcels arrive to you on time, especially before the holidays!

Feel free to contact our sales team to further discuss your options for shipping or if you have any questions regarding the CUPW Strike.
