A Christmas Park In Shop3D's Showroom?!

December 22, 2022

We're so excited for the holiday season and have a special treat in our showroom - the Shop3D.ca Christmas Park print designed by the talented @FULV. If you'd like to add this beautiful print to your collection, you can find the files here. Be sure to check out the other amazing prints by @FULV while you're at it! Our 3D print technician, Colin Ridley, put a lot of care and attention into recreating this model, and we wanted to share the process with you. Keep reading to learn more about the steps involved. We hope you enjoy!

We asked Colin how he tackled this project and said...

"Overall the park was an easy print. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The creator of the model includes the colours and materials used + alternatives for every single part that needs to be printed. The author also included in the assembly instructions for each part as well as the overall assembly of the full model.

The assembly instructions also include instructions on when to perform colour changes at specific heights for each part that requires two colours. I used PLA for all of the prints. I did deviate from a few of the colour options. For the fences and fountain I used red PLA to match the scarf of the snowman instead of the mint green that the author used. I also used a silk blue for the water in the fountain instead of a transparent filament.

I did have a few issues. The fence post cap holes didn't lay on the flat part properly and did not align with the sphere so they popped off every time I tried to put them on. Another issue I experienced was with the base of the model had some holes that I needed to fill with the repair tool. Also on the first tree that I tried to print I forgot to turn Vase mode on so the tree printed with infill instead of being hollow.

I printed the whole thing on the E2 and the Pro3 Plus"
