Bambu Lab X2D launched April 2026 - Now Available For Pre-Order in Canada

Bambu Lab entered the market with a clear goal: make 3D printing so seamless that the hardest part is deciding what to make. They quickly proved it with the X1 series, combining speed, ease of use, and an attractive price point to capture a large share of the professional market.
With the recent refresh of their H and P series printers, we’ve been anticipating an upgrade of the X series, and it’s finally been announced.
Introducing the Bambu Lab X2D
The X2D features A dual-nozzle extrusion system with mechanical switching, AI algorithms inherited from the H-Series, and an intelligent thermal management system designed to maintain consistent performance over time.

What's New

Dual Nozzle System
The X2D uses two dedicated nozzles so you can print with two materials without constantly purging filament like the AMS system. Each nozzle handles its own material, which reduces waste, cuts down print time, and eliminates the “purge cycle” between swaps.
This also makes it ideal for using breakaway or dissolvable support materials, since supports can be printed in a different material that removes cleanly and reduces post-processing.
That said, there is a trade-off.
The main nozzle is a high-performance direct drive, while the second nozzle uses a Bowden tube system with a rear-mounted motor. Running the second filament through a tube keeps the toolhead light and fast, but means the auxiliary nozzle runs slower and with slightly lower precision. It’s also not ideal for flexible materials like TPU. Ultimately, it’s best treated as a dedicated support or secondary-material nozzle rather than a full equivalent second print head.
If you liked the Ultimaker for being a single-colour engineering machine with a dedicated support nozzle then this is your modern solution.
Dynamic Flow Calibration
The X2D uses a closed-loop extrusion system, meaning it continuously monitors filament feed, hotend temperature, and nozzle pressure while it prints. Before each job, it also runs an automatic calibration to normalize flow and reduce the need for manual tuning.
During printing, a high-frequency PMSM motor feedback system (sampling at 20 kHz) watches for early signs of extrusion issues like increased resistance, inconsistent flow, or partial clogs. When something starts to drift, the printer can adjust flow in real time or intervene before it turns into a failed print.
The result is more stable extrusion, fewer surprises mid-print, and consistent layer quality over long or demanding prints.

Cool Mode & Heat Mode
On enclosed printers, lower-temperature materials like PLA can struggle due to heat buildup, especially on overhangs and bridges. The X2D introduces a cooling mode that pulls in fresh air and vents warm air out, improving print quality without needing to leave the door open.
In heating mode, the chamber reaches up to 65°C with a 300°C nozzle, allowing reliable printing of engineering materials like ABS, ASA, and Nylon with reduced warping.
Certified for Indoor Air Quality
The X2D uses the same three-stage filtration system found in the H series: a G3 pre-filter, H12 HEPA filter, and activated carbon layer that work together to reduce VOC emissions and airborne particles.
Like the H2D, it also meets UL 2904 GREENGUARD certification when used with Bambu Lab PLA Basic and PETG Basic filaments, making it a strong option for home, office, or classroom environments where air quality matters.

How Does It Compare?
The H, P and X series are all professional grade printers with the X2D offering a lot of great features at a great price point, but what do we recommend?
H2D
A full production machine with expansion options like laser engraving and digital cutting. This is your all-in-one manufacturing hub. We recommend this when you need maximum capability: larger parts, engineering materials, and true multi-material performance. The 350 × 320 × 325 mm build volume is a major advantage.
X2D
Dual-nozzle benefits without going full enterprise. We recommend this when you want clean supports, reduced material waste, and faster multi-material prints, but don’t need the larger build volume or added complexity of the H series.

P2S
Fast, reliable, and straightforward. We recommend this when you’re primarily printing single materials and want consistent results. Multi-colour is possible with AMS, but comes with purge waste. Ideal for prototyping and production of simple parts.
