In this episode of Talk3D, we're excited to host Laura Marotta, a sculptor pushing the boundaries of geometry and architecture through her innovative approach to 3D printing and sculpting. Laura creates large-scale, community-engaged sculptures that serve as social prompts, fostering interaction and meeting diverse needs.
Laura Marotta explores the charisma of geometry and the intersection of architecture, and modular construction. She disrupts traditional grid systems to create large-scale, community engaged sculptures. Her forms function as social prompts, connecting diverse audiences, encouraging interaction, and serving a multiplicity of needs.
She received her MFA from the University of Guelph, where she received the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship, and a College of the Arts Deans Scholarship. Her work has been exhibited in significant exhibitions at the University of Waterloo Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Hamilton, Art Gallery of Windsor, Art Gallery of Mississauga, and McMaster Museum of Art.
